The creek runneth over

So I was browsing craigslist like I often do and I searched ‘goat milk’ and came across a listing for bagged goat droppings.  Now in this post there was also a business listed with a phone number: Goldin Artisan Cheese in Molalla, Oregon (503-810-1954) and I thought ‘snap! what’s this?’ and quickly searched for them because Molalla’s nearby.  Turns out it’s a nice story of a woman who grew up–in part–in France and spent time visiting rural villages with her family and tasting the unique cheeses the villages had to offer.  Apparently they take pride in cheese like some of us do with our coffee, referring to the terroir and so on.  Now this grabbed my attention.  Anyhow, the story goes that she has finally been able to pursue her dream to make cheese (after ditching corporate world) and turns out she’s got a nice little operation going, selling a few select cheeses in Portland.  Read this story for more info.  In closing, I have now decided to pursue more elaborate cheese-making.  Oh, and as part of this process we’ve made the decision to look into alternative feeds for the goats (no Payback, no Purina) and fence off a larger portion of the yard for them to have more grazing area.  More to come (brine, rennet, oh my!).
